PRP HAIR RESTORATION

PRP HAIR RESTORATION

THE FACTS: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection is a novel procedure that uses your own blood platelets – a type of cell that helps with healing throughout the body – to potentially reverse hair loss and grow new hair.

WHAT IS PRP HAIR RESTORATION?

PRP or platelet-rich plasma for hair regrowth is a non-surgical treatment that can be performed in about 30 minutes.

PRP is collected from your own blood and it contains growth factors and cytokines that stimulate and improve hair follicle function. Small injections of PRP deliver the strong growth factors from platelets into the skin of weak follicles.

KEY BENEFITS OF PRP HAIR RESTORATION

Stimulates Hair Follicle Function:

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) contains growth factors and cytokines that stimulate and enhance hair follicle function, promoting natural hair growth and preventing further loss.

Non-Surgical and Minimally Invasive:

PRP Hair Restoration is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment. It involves drawing a small amount of the patient's blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and injecting the PRP into the scalp. This approach minimizes downtime and reduces the risk of complications associated with surgery.

Improves Hair Thickness and Density:

PRP has been shown to increase the diameter of existing hair and promote the growth of thicker, healthier strands. This leads to improved overall hair density and a fuller appearance.

Fast and Convenient Procedure:

PRP treatments are relatively quick, often taking about 30 minutes, making them convenient for individuals with busy lifestyles. The procedure can be performed in a clinic setting without the need for an extended recovery period.

Customizable and Complementary to Other Treatments:

PRP Hair Restoration can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with other hair restoration methods, such as medications or laser therapy. This versatility allows for a customized approach to address individual needs and optimize results.

THE PROCESS:

Step 1: Your blood is drawn — typically from your arm — and put into a centrifuge (a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids of different densities).

Step 2: After about 10 minutes in the centrifuge, your blood will have separated into in three layers:

  • platelet-poor plasma

  • platelet-rich plasma

  • red blood cells

Step 3:The platelet-rich plasma is drawn up into a syringe and then injected into areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

In PRP treatments, there are two types of patients with hair loss: chronic hair loss (male and female pattern baldness) and acute hair loss (e.g. alopecia). In our experience, patients with areas of "low-grade" hair growth on the scalp where functioning hair follicles can still be seen are the patients who seem to have the most success with hair regrowth treatments.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Discuss your medical history, current medications, and any existing scalp conditions.

You might have to undergo blood tests to ensure you are a suitable candidate for PRP. This may include assessing platelet levels and overall health.

Temporarily discontinue medications that may interfere with the PRP process, as advised by your healthcare provider. This may include blood thinners or anti-inflammatory drugs.

Minimize alcohol consumption and refrain from smoking in the days leading up to the PRP procedure, as these factors can affect blood circulation and healing.

WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED?

Since PRP is derived from the patient's blood, the risk of allergic reactions is extremely low. However, individuals with specific blood disorders or allergies should discuss their medical history with the practitioner before undergoing the procedure.

Achieving optimal results often requires multiple PRP sessions. Patients should be prepared for the possibility of undergoing several treatments to maximize the benefits.

Some patients may experience mild discomfort or a sensation of pressure during the injection process. Topical anesthetics are often applied to minimize any discomfort.

Mild redness and potential swelling at the injection sites. These effects are typically transient and often resolve within a few hours.

AFTERMATH:

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Hair Restoration is a groundbreaking procedure designed to stimulate hair follicles, promote hair growth, and address issues like thinning hair and hair loss. Understanding the aftermath of this treatment is crucial for individuals considering PRP as a solution to rejuvenate their locks.
